Nvidia Raises Alarm: GAIN AI Act May Cripple Global Chip Market Rivalry
On Friday, Nvidia (NVDA.O) cautioned that the AI GAIN Act could significantly undermine global competition in the high-tech chip sector, comparing its potential impact to the AI Diffusion Rule, which capped the computing capabilities accessible to various nations.
Officially titled the Guaranteeing Access and Innovation for National Artificial Intelligence Act, the GAIN AI Act is integrated into the National Defense Authorization Act. It requires manufacturers of AI chips to give precedence to domestic orders for state-of-the-art processors before addressing foreign clients’ needs.
