China’s Bold Plan to Slash Nvidia Dependency with Massive AI Chip Production Surge
China is gearing up to significantly boost its artificial intelligence chip production, targeting a threefold increase by 2026, according to a report by the Financial Times. This ambitious move by Chinese chip manufacturers aims to curb reliance on Nvidia (NVDA.O), a leading global supplier. Huawei (HWT.UL), a key player in this strategy, plans to kick off production at a dedicated AI chip facility before the end of this year, with two additional plants slated to start operations in 2026, as per sources familiar with the initiative, the newspaper noted.
